Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on Friday received a briefing from the responsible authorities on security-related observations concerning Members of Parliament, said a government press release.

“I received an extensive briefing on the incidents affecting members of parliament. We take this matter seriously, particularly because it is directed at Parliament and, by extension, strikes at the very heart of our democracy. At the same time, we trust that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents in this case as well,” said the Premier.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) together with Helsinki Police on Thursday started an investigation into the suspected intrusions at the homes of some Members of Parliament (MPs).

Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and Deputy Speaker Paula Risikko on Thursday held a press conference on the suspected intrusions.

Risikko said that the overall responsibility for this investigation and the related analysis has now been transferred to the Helsinki Police Department.
