The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) together with Helsinki Police started an investigation into the suspected intrusions at the homes of some Members of Parliament (MPs), said police and Parliament in separate press releases on Thursday.

The Helsinki Police Department received information from Parliament about the suspected incidents.

Meanwhile, the Parliament has taken measures after receiving information about observations indicating unauthorised entry into the homes of some MPs.

Parliamentary groups reported observations in this regard and the Parliament immediately launched measures to assess the scope of the phenomenon.

The Comprehensive Security Working Group operating within Parliament has prepared guidance for Members of Parliament on how to respond to the situation. The guidance was distributed to the parliamentary groups today.

Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and Deputy Speaker Paula Risikko held a press conference on Thursday on the suspected intrusions at some MPs homes.

Risikko said that the overall responsibility for this investigation and the related analysis has now been transferred to the Helsinki Police Department.

"At this stage we cannot speculate as to who may be responsible. What we want is to establish the facts," Risikko said at the joint press conference with Halla-aho.
