French, German vessels visit Helsinki

A French patrol vessel FS Pluvier moored at Hernesaari port in Helsinki on Thursday while another German corvette FGS Erfurt is scheduled to arrive on Friday, said Finnish Defence Forces in a press release.

Braunschweig-class FGS Erfurt is 89,5 meters long and 13,3 meters wide. The ship can house a crew complement of 60. It is specialized in sea surveillance and reconnaissance and, if necessary, the engagement of surface and land targets. The vessel is designed for coastal operations and participation in international missions.

Flamant-class FS Pluvier is 54 meters long and 11 meters wide. It has a crew of approximately 20 people. The vessel is used for search, surveillance, and rescue missions.

The vessels operate at the moment in the vicinity of Finland, which is why they come to Finland for maintenance and replenishments.

These routine calls are not related to each other and the ships will not be open to the people.
