Finnish Border Guard continues border security support to Estonia

The Finnish Border Guard will continue bilateral border security assistance to Estonia from September 7 to September 27 following request from the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, said an official press release on Monday.

The support provided by the Finnish Border Guard consists of four patrols and four patrol vehicles.

The patrols will perform border security tasks within Estonian territory, an operation that simultaneously supports Finland's own border security.

This deployment is a continuation of the support operations initiated in August. The phenomenon of illegal immigration from Belarus to the Baltic states continues, and the possibility of it expanding to Finland remains.

The Finnish Border Guard evaluates the volume and necessity of the support in cooperation with the Estonian authorities.

Earlier in August, the Finnish Border Guard started to provide bilateral border security support to Estonia.
