Man to face charges for hoisting Swastika flag in yard

A man is facing charges for hoisting a swastika flag in the yard of his house in Lappeenranta in May this year.

The Southeastern Finland Police completed the investigation into the incident, and the case and decided to forward it to the Eastern Finland Prosecutor´s office for consideration of charges, said police in a press release on Monday.

While interrogated during the investigation, the suspect, however, denied his involvement in committing a crime in this regard.

According to police, the man hoisted the swastika at his detached house on May 12.

Police confiscated the flag after the incident and lodged a criminal case under the offence of agitation against an ethnic group.

Private people also urged police to investigate into the incident.
