Man dies after falling from balcony in Vantaa

A man was killed after falling from the balcony of a building at Tikkurila area in Vantaa late Friday night, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at about 9:00 p.m. when the man in his 30s fell down from the fifth floor of the building to the ground through the glass of the balcony railing.

He died on the spot.

Police, however, did not disclose the detail identity of the deceased.

The reason behind the incident could not be known immediately and police are investigating into the case to find out the reason behind it.

Police said that no crime link was suspected at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

Earlier, in May 2025, one person was killed after falling from the balcony of a building in Vantaa.

Meanwhile, the government in May 2026 recommended that the ongoing construction projects should ensure safety requirements while constructing railing structures, including the fibre cement board structures.

The authority made the advisory following an investigation into an accident took place in Helsinki in September 2025 where one person died after falling through a balcony railing board of an apartment building to the ground.
