16 killed in road mishaps in Finland in May

A total of 16 people were killed and 273 others injured in 222 road accidents in Finland in May, 2026, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of fatalities was seven lower and the number of persons injured 10 higher than in May 2025.
Of the persons who were killed, five travelled by passenger car, one by moped, three by motorcycle, two pedestrians and two cyclists.
In addition, three other road users were killed.
Among the deceased, 13 were men and three women.
Meanwhile, a total of 57 people were killed and 1,051 others injured in 824 road traffic accidents in the country from January to May this year.
The number of deaths was eight lower and the number of persons injured 65 higher than in the corresponding period of 2025.
