The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) revoked the international protection status of 14 people on national security grounds since the beginning of 2025, reported Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV on Sunday.

The people, who lost the protection status were citizens of Iraq and Russia and nine of them had refugee status while five had subsidiary protection status, said the report, quoting an official of Migri.

The protection statuses of 15 more individuals are under consideration on the similar grounds, said the report.

Revoking the status became possible following amendments to the law, which entered into force in January 2025.

According to Migri, the protection could be cancelled on various grounds regarding national security issues.

None of the people, who lost the protection status, however, were not deported yet as the appeals against the decisions remained pending at the court.
