President Alexander Stubb on Saturday termed the recent events in the Middle East as deeply worrying and condemned all actions that seek to escalate the conflict in the region.
“Recent events in the Middle East are deeply worrying,” Stubb wrote in a post on his social media platform X.
He said that ensuring nuclear safety and long-term security in the region is of utmost importance to all.
He continues to support all diplomatic efforts aimed at ending Iran's nuclear program and strengthening security in the region.
Stubb also said that the Iranian regime must engage in negotiations in good faith and stop its destabilising activities.
“We condemn all actions that seek to escalate the conflict in the region and urge for utmost restraint,” said the President.
The United States and Israel on Saturday launched "major combat operations" against Iran.
Iran retaliated with a series of counterattacks against Israel and U.S. targets across the region, with explosions reported in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Saudi Arabia, among other countries.
