2 killed in road mishaps in Kangasala, Kolari

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Kangasala and Kolari during the weekend, police said.

A teenage boy was killed when a private car skidded off the Lahdentie road and collided with a roadside wall at Kangasala, a municipality in Pirkanmaa region early Sunday.

The accident took place at about 4:00 a.m. and the 18-year-old driver, who alone onboard died on the spot.

Responding to an alarm rescue service people and police rushed to the spot and covered the body. The reason behind the accident could not be known.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman was killed in a head on collision between two private cars on Pellontie road at Kolari, a municipality in Lapland region on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. when a speeding car with two people onboard skidded off the road and collided with another car coming from opposite direction.

An elderly woman who was alone in the other car died on the spot while the two people of the speeding car sustained minor wounds. The injured people were taken to hospital.

Police said that the icy and slippery road might be the reason behind the accident.

Police, however, did not divulge the details identities of the deceased.

The Accident Investigation Board and police are investigating into the incidents to find out the circumstances surrounding them and get more information about the accidents.
