Number of criminal offences rises by 4.9% in Finland in 2025

A total of 547,700 offences against the Criminal Code were recorded by the police, customs and border guard in Finland in 2025, which is 4.9 per cent more than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of reported assaults was 44,600, which is 7.4 per cent more than in the year before.

According to preliminary data, a total of 84 murders were reported, which is five fewer than in 2024.

About 1,300 cases of sexual harassment were reported, which is about 100 cases fewer than in 2024. Of the acts, 400 were committed on the Internet.

A total of 2,600 reports were made about dissemination or possession of a sexually offensive image of a child or following a sexually offensive performance of a child, which is 94.5 per cent more than in the previous year. Over 90 per cent of the acts were committed on the Internet.
