Construction worker killed at workplace accident in Raasepori

A construction worker was killed in an accident at the workplace at a construction site in Raasepori, a municipality under Uusimaa region on Thursday morning, police said in a press release.

The accident took place at about 8:00 a.m. when the worker, a 55-year-old man was unloading steel pipes with a crane from a vehicle combination at Tammisaari area.

At certain stage the man lost control over the crane and was crushed under the load.

He died on the spot.

Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.

The Western Uusimaa Police are investigating the incident to get more information in this regard.

"The police are currently investigating into the incident as an occupational accident, a cause of death and manslaughter,” Criminal Inspector Jussi-Pekka Laaksonen said in the press release, adding that the title of the case might have changed based on the results of the preliminary investigation.
