Man gunned down in Helsinki, several held

One person was killed and another injured when they came under gun attack in an apartment at Konala.in Helsinki on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident took place at about 4:40 a.m. at Kolsarintie area in the locality.

Responding to an alarm, Police and emergency service people rushed to the spot and found two bullet wounded men inside the apartment.

One of them, who sustained severe injuries succumbed to his wounds on the spot immediately while the rest one was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the injured person.

The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.

Following the incident, police conducted extensive search and arrested several people from the area.

After the preliminary investigation, police suspected their involvement in the incident.

"The police are investigating the case as a homicide and attempted homicide involving a firearm. Further information regarding the case will be released as soon as it is deemed appropriate", said Detective Chief Inspector Tuomas Lindholm, who is leading the inquiry in a statement.
