A conscript died during a combat exercise at Kainuu Brigade of Finnish Defence Forces at Vuosanka in Kuhmo on Monday morning, said the Kainuu Brigade in a press release.
The 20-year-old conscript died when the soldiers were moving from the Kajaani garrison to the area of the training, named Northern Axe 25, local media reported.
The Defence Forces in its press release, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the deceased but said that there was no crime link to the death.
The incident did not pose any danger to other conscripts of the training unit.
The authority informed the family of the deceased about the accident.
Crisis support and counselling were offered to the squadmates following the death.
Meanwhile, the Kainuu Brigade decided to honour the dead conscript and hoist the flags at half-mast on Tuesday to mourn the death.
Oulu police are investigating into the incident to find out more information about the death.
The multinational LIVEX Northern Axe 25 training has begun at Vuosanka ground on November 29 and will continue till December 5.
About 3,000 personnel including 1,900 conscripts, 370 service personnel, 630 reservists, and 70 soldiers from the UK are taking part in the training.
