Finland condoles at fire victims in Hong Kong

Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen expressed profound shock at the deaths of people in a fire broke out in the Tai Po residential area in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

Valtonen in a post on her social media platform X late Wednesday night also wished speedy recovery of the people who were injured in the incident.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic news about a fire in Tai Po. My heartfelt condolences to the families in Hong Kong who lost their loved ones, and wishing a swift recovery to the injured,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

At least 36 people were killed and 300 others missing after a huge fire engulfed a residential area in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon, international media reported, quoting official sources.

The Fire Services Department of the HKSAR government was notified of the accident at around 2:51 p.m. local time.
