President's visit to Mikkeli postponed

President Alexander Stubb's visit to Mikkeli, scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed, said the President Office in a press release on Monday.

The President Office, however, did not mention the reason behind the postponement of the visit but said that it will inform about the new schedule closer to the date of the visit.

The President was scheduled to start his visit with an inspection of the Finnish Army Command and learn about the planned land defence reforms and visit the Finnish Army Operations Centre.

He was also scheduled to meet the students of the Saimaanportin yhtenäiskoulu, a comprehensive school and watch their performance on stage. The new school building of Saimaanportti Comprehensive School was inaugurated in 2024 during his visit.

He was also scheduled to meet Mikkeli residents at a public event and visit the Muisti Centre of War and Peace. Muisti (meaning memory and remembrance), a museum that promotes peace and illustrates how war affects people and society.
