23 killed in road mishaps in May in Finland

At least 23 people were killed and 263 others injured in 224 road accidents in Finland in May this year, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of fatalities was 10 higher and number of persons injured 82 lower compared to the stipulated month in 2024.

Out of the deceased in in May 2025, nine travelled by passenger car, six by motorcycle while three were pedestrians, one was rider of light electric vehicle and four were bicyclists.

Among those who died, 17 were men and six women.

Meanwhile, 65 people were killed and 986 others injured in 813 road accidents in January-May period this year.

The number of deaths was five higher and the number of persons injured 100 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024.

Of the persons who were killed, 39 travelled by passenger car, two by van, seven by motorcycle and one by lorry.

Seven pedestrians, one rider of light electric vehicles and five cyclists on a traditional bicycle and three other road users were also killed.
