Finland summons Russian envoy over airspace violation

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland on Wednesday summoned the Russia's chargé d'affaires over a suspected violation of Finnish airspace by Russian military aircraft on Tuesday, according to the ministry.

“The Foreign Ministry of Finland summoned today (Wednesday) the chargé d'affaires of Russia and requested an explanation regarding the suspected violation of airspace,” the Ministry wrote in a post on its social media platform X.

Russian military aircraft reportedly violated Finnish airspace off the coast of Porvoo on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier on May 26, the Ministry also summoned the Russia's ambassador to Helsinki, Pavel Kuznetsov over another suspected violation of Finnish airspace by two Russian military aircraft.

The two Russian military aircraft reportedly entered into the Finnish airspace near Porvoo on May 23, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The Defence Ministry and the Finnish Coast Guard are investigating into the incidents.
