Social media platforms Facebook and Twitter are the two most favourite sites used by Finnish MPs, reports a survey conducted by the Finnish language newspaper consortium Lännen Media.

Almost all the respondents had a Facebook account, while four out every five legislators had a Twitter account. The use of emails and blogging tools is also popular with the MPs.

The MPs update their social media accounts almost daily, with the majority of them doing it themselves.

Despite the wide use of social media, most of the lawmakers, except the Perussuomalaiset and Vihreäliitto MPs, did not have a clear idea of their parties’ guidelines on the use of social media.

In total 101 MPs responded to the survey.
