President Alexander Stubb on Friday held separate telephone conversations with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and discussed various international contemporary issues.
Stubb and Guterres discussed Russia’s war in Ukraine, the situation in Gaza, the global geopolitical situation and Finland’s strong commitment to the UN, said the President Office in a press release.
“Good to exchange views with Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Guterres. Shared concern over Russia’s war in Ukraine, the humanitarian situation in Gaza and growing global tensions. We need the UN now more than ever,” Stubb wrote in his social media platform X after the phone call.
Stubb also had a phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday, said the President Office in another press release.
They discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Washington in July, the state of Finland’s NATO integration and the need for continued support for Ukraine.
