2 gunned down in Oulu, suspect held

Two people were killed in an incident of gunfire at Välivainio area in Oulu on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The incident took place at about 5:00 pm and police recovered the bodies of the deceased, a woman from inside an apartment building and a man from outside of the building after the murders.

Police said that responding to a call from the emergency service, the law-enforcers rushed to the spot and found a man outside of a building in a critical condition.

He sustained serious bullet wounds at different parts of his bodies and succumbed to his injuries on the spot immediately despite giving first aid.

Several patrols of police also searched the building and found a bullet-riddle body of a woman inside an apartment of the building.

The police arrested one person from the apartment to probe into the involvement of the person in the incident, but the main suspect fled the scene after the murders.

Police conducted extensive search at the locality and arrested the suspected armed man from Haravatie area in Välivainio at about 7:20 pm.

The police, however, did not divulge the identities of the victims and the suspect.

The police are investigating into the case as two suspected murders.

The reason behind the murders could not be known immediately.
