Man killed in road mishap in Saarijärvi

One person was killed in a road accident at Saarijärvi, a municipality in Central Finland region late Saturday night, police said in a press release on Sunday evening.

The accident took place at after 7:00 pm when a private car skidded off Paavontie road at Palvasalmi area and collided with roadside bench on its way to the city centre.

The driver, a man in his 40s, who was alone in the car was killed in the accident.

The Police, however, did not divulge details about the deceased.

The reason behind the accident could not be known immediately.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
