Student stabs classmate at Helsinki school

A teenage student of a secondary school in Helsinki sustained wounds when his classmate attacked him with knife in the classroom on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place when a 13-year old student stabbed another student at Vesala comprehensive school in the capital during a home economics class.

Responding to an alarm, a patrol of Helsinki police rushed to the spot and found the suspect and the victim.

The injured student was taken to the hospital where he was given first aid.

Police arrested the attacker and investigating into the incident as attempted murder.

“The police are investigating into the incident based on the occurrence and the reason behind it. The investigation is going on through conducting interviews with the people. The investigation is at the preliminary stage and police cannot disclose detail at this stage,” the head of the investigation Detective Inspector Marko Forss said in a statement.

The police will divulge detail in after getting more information this regard, said police.
