Finland supports N. Macedonia´s EU accession move

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto on Saturday reiterated Finland´s firm support to the accession move of North Macedonia to the European Union (EU).

Haavisto expressed the support during a telephone conversation with his North Macedonian counterpart Bujar Osmani, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a twitter post.

“Good phone call with Foreign Minister of North Macedonia ahead of EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday. We discussed regional dynamics in Western Balkans, and our upcoming #OSCE Chairpersonships. Finland remains firm in its support to North Macedonia´s EU accession path,” the ministry wrote in the twitter post, quoting Haavisto as saying.

Haavisto on Saturday also held another telephone conversation with his Kenyan counterpart Alfred N. Mutua and discussed various issues including regional security, our bilateral relations, and food and energy crises.

“Good phone call with Foreign Minister Dr Alfred Mutua of Kenya ahead of EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday. We covered Kenyan role on regional security, our bilateral relations, and food and energy crises. Finland is committed to peace efforts in Eastern and Horn of Africa,” the ministry wrote in another twitter post, quoting the Foreign Minister as saying.
