Man stabbed in Porvoo, attacker held

A man was injured when a miscreant attacked him with knife at Gammelbacka area in Porvoo early Wednesday night, said police in a press release on Thursday.

The police arrested the suspected attacker after the incident.

Eastern Uusimaa police, quoting eyewitness said that the incident took place after the midnight when a couple possibly came originally from the Middle East area were walking on Viertotie road at the area and came across a man equipped with knife.

At certain stage the attacker stabbed the husband twice and left the scene.

The eyewitness who saw the incident talked with the couple after the attack.

The police do not suspect that the couple in question has committed any offence, but urged them to contact the police in person to clarify the case.
