The Nordic prime ministers will meet in Helsinki on Tuesday in connection with the 2022 Session of the Nordic Council, said a government press release on Monday.
The Nordic Premiers will have a separate meeting together with representatives of the autonomous regions of Åland and Greenland.
Topics on the agenda for the meeting include the consequences of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, Nordic contributions to the green transition, and the Nordic countries’ goal of becoming the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.
While in Helsinki, the prime ministers will also attend the Session of the Nordic Council. The Council has invited the prime ministers to exchange views at an afternoon summit.
The ministerial meetings held during the session will be chaired by Norway, which currently holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The 74th Ordinary Session of the Nordic Council has begun in Helsinki on Monday and will continue till Thursday.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend a hearing of foreign ministers at the Plenary of the Nordic Council and a meeting of Nordic foreign ministers (N5) on Wednesday, said another government press release.
“It is important to discuss topical matters with our closest partners. Nordic cooperation is now more important than ever before, and our common values give a firm basis for promoting cooperation in areas such as energy security and crisis preparedness,” said Haavisto.
