Kaikkonen, Cavoli discuss Finland´s NATO membership

NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Christopher G. Cavoli on Tuesday met with Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen and discussed the situation of Finland´s NATO membership process, said the Ministry of Defence.

“Good discussions on the current security situation and Finland’s NATO membership process, including Finland as a future member of the Alliance,” the ministry wrote in a twitter post after the meeting.

Cavol arrived Finland on Monday on a two-day visit hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, according to Defence Forces.

During the visit, Cavoli was introduced to the Defence Forces and the military aspects of Finland's NATO membership process. In addition, the current security situation and its future development was discussed.
