President gets Atlantic Council's Global Citizen Award

The Atlantic Council, a US-based foreign and security think tank has chosen President Sauli Niinistö and five others for the Atlantic Council's Global Citizen Award this year, the organisation said.

Niinistö will receive the award in New York on September 19.

Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, actor and activist Forest Whitaker and the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are also selected for the award this year.

The Atlantic Council honors those individuals who best exemplify “global citizenship” through their unique contributions toward improving the state of the world.
