1 killed in road mishap in Alavieska

One person was killed in a road accident at Alavieska, a municipality in Northern Ostrobothnia region late Friday night, police said on Saturday.

The accident took place at about 9:30 pm when a private car collided head on with a truck coming from opposite direction on Taluskyläntie road at the area.

Driver of the car, a foreign origin man was killed on the spot in the accident. He was 34 years old, said police.

The Police, however, did not divulge details about the deceased.

The reason behind the accident could not be known immediately but police said that it was raining at the time of accident and the speed limit of the road was 80 kilometers per hour.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
