2 found dead in Turku, Rovaniemi

Two people including an elderly woman were found dead in Turku and Rovaniemi on Thursday and Wednesday, police said in a press release on Thursday.

Police said that a 72-year-old woman went missing from the land area near Turku airport on July 20.

Police, Border Guard and rescue service people conducted extensive search at the area for several days but failed to recover her.

A berry picker, who was moving from Turku airport land area to Turku Ring Road found the body on Thursday at Pomponrahka area and informed the emergency service in this regard.

Police rushed to the spot and identified the body of the elderly woman, who went missing from the airport area on July 20.

The Police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the death.

Meanwhile, Police recovered another body from Korkalovaara area in Rovaniemi on Wednesday.

Responding to a call, a squad of patrol police rushed to the area and recovered the body.

Police did not divulge the identities of the deceased. The reason behind the death could not be known.
