1 killed in road mishap at Eura

One person was killed and another injured in a collision between a mope (small motorcycle) and a private car at Eura, a municipality under Satakunta region late Saturday night, police said in a press release on Sunday.

The accident took place at about 10:30 pm when the private car knocked down the mope from the behind while trying to overtake the mope at Harjavallantie near Inkimäki area.

Passenger of the mope was killed on the spot while the driver of the mope was injured critically in the accident.

The driver of the car, who was driving without having a valid driving license, however, was unhurt.

Police said that the driving was suspected of drunk driving during the accident.

After the preliminary investigation police accused the car driver of aggravated manslaughter, aggravated injury, aggravated endangering traffic safety, aggravated drunk driving and driving a vehicle without a license.

The Police, however, did not divulge details about the deceased, the injured mope driver and the car driver.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
