Kaikkonen to join NATO DefMins dinner meeting in Brussels

Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen will participate in a working dinner of NATO's defence minister meeting on Wednesday in Brussels, said the Defence Ministry in a press release on Tuesday.

The ministers will discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its effects on European security.

In addition to the NATO countries, Finnish, Swedish, Georgian and Ukrainian defence ministers and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell have been invited to the meeting.

"I look forward to an important and serious discussion on the security situation in Europe", said Kaikkonen.

Kaikkonen will also attend the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at the NATO Headquarters on Wednesday, hosted by the United States.

The meeting will focus on the situation in Ukraine and the support given to the country. Led by the United States, the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is a group of over 40 countries that is coordinating the delivery of armed assistance to Ukraine.

Kaikkonen will also have several bilateral meetings during his visit, including a meeting with Ukrainian Minister of Defence, Oleksii Reznikov.
