Saarikko, Orpo, Andersson re-elected their parties´ Chairs

Annika Saarikko, Petteri Orpo and Li Andersson were reelected Chairpersons of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland), Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) and Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) respectively at their party councils on Saturday.

Saarikko, the Finance Minister of the five-party alliance government was re-elected as party chair at the council of Keskusta held in Lappeenranta.

She beat former foreign minister, Member of European Parliament Paavo Väyrynen, who led the party throughout the 1980s by a huge margin of 1341 votes to 151.

Meanwhile, Orpo was reelected Kokoomus Chair unopposed for fourth consecutive term at the party council held in Kalajoki.

The former finance and interior minister has been leading the Kokoomus since 2016.

The Vasemmistoliitto, another component of the ruling alliance re-elected Education Minister Li Andersson as its chairperson at the party council held in Pori. Andersson, who has been leading the party since 2016, was also elected unopposed.
