2 held for killing man in Kuopio, 1 drowns in Kouvola

Two people were arrested for their alleged involvement in killing an elderly man during the weekend at Neulamäki in Kuopio, police said in a press release on Tuesday.

The 64 years old man was killed inside his apartment in between 6 May 1:00 pm to 7 May 1:30 pm said police.

Responding to a call police rushed to the spot and found the man dead due to external violence.

Police are investigating into the incident as murder and arrested two people in this connection.

Police, however, did not disclose the identities of the deceased and the suspects at the initial stage of the investigation.

Meanwhile, one person was drowned in Kymijoki river at Kuitutie area in Kouvola on Tuesday, said police in a separate press release.

Rescue services people rushed to the spot responding to a call from the nearby factory workers and recovered the body from the water.

Police and rescue service people said that the deceased remained under the water for a long time.

The identity of the dead could not be known immediately.

Police are investigating into the death to find out the reason behind the incident.
