President Sauli Niinistö has been admitted to hospital for monitoring due to prolonged COVID-19 symptoms, said the President Office in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
Niinistö is feeling reasonably well and is continuing to work remotely, said the press release.
Earlier in the morning the President in a Facebook post informed that he will not participate in the main Veterans' Day commemoration this year following his coronavirus infection.
Earlier, on 19 April, Niinistö was tested positive for a COVID-19 virus.
The infection prompted the President to postpone his official visit to Norway scheduled for 21–22 April.
The President’s and the Minister of Education’s question session with pupils on 20 April was also postponed.
