Birth rate stays lower, death rate higher in Jan-March

A total of 11,023 children were born and 15,912 people died in Finland in January-March period, according to the Statistics Finland.
The number of birth was 1,176 fewer than in the corresponding period 2021 while the number of deaths was 1,731 higher than one year earlier.
Finland's population at the end of March was 5,549,136.
During January–March Finland's population increased by 895 persons. The reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad. The number of immigrants was 4,297 higher than that of emigrants.
Altogether 7,016 persons immigrated to Finland from abroad and 2,719 persons emigrated from Finland during January–March.
The number of immigrants was 864 lower and the number of emigrants 300 higher than in the previous year.
In all, 1,438 of the immigrants and 1,835 of the emigrants were Finnish citizens.
