Mortality rate in Finland grows further in 2021

The number of deaths in Finland in 2021 was 57,659, which is 2,171 more than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

Number of deaths grew by 3.9 per cent from the previous year while general mortality rate grew by 4 per cent.

Life expectancy at birth and infant mortality were on level with the previous year.

The general mortality rate expressing mortality also grew from the year before, being 10.4, while it was exactly 10 in 2020.

The general mortality rate is a key figure relative to the population, which indicates the number of deaths per 1,000 persons of the mean population.
