Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs scheduled to be held in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release on Tuesday.

The meeting will focus on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, NATO’s Strategic Concept and the international security situation.

The Foreign Ministers of Finland, Sweden, Georgia, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have been invited to attend the session on the international security situation.

“Because of the changed security situation in Europe, it is important to engage in dialogue not only with NATO but also with other key actors. The meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs provides an excellent opportunity to exchange views not only with NATO countries, Sweden and the EU, but also with Ukraine and Georgia as well as with key countries in the Asia-Pacific region,” Haavisto said.

In connection with the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Minister Haavisto will also have a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde.
