2 killed in road mishaps, 1 burnt to death

Two people were killed in separate road accidents at Koski TL and Pöytyä on Saturday and Friday while another person was burnt to death in a fire in Turku late Thursday night, police said.

Police said that an accident took place when a private car skidded off the road and collided with truck at valtatie area in Koski TL, a municipality under Southwest Finland region on Saturday morning.

Driver of the car died on the spot in the accident took place at about 11:00 am.

Responding to a call police and rescue department people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the man.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police are investigating into the accident as endangering traffic safety and finding out the reason behind the accident.

Meanwhile, another man was killed when a private car collided with a truck at Kantatie area in Pöytyä, a municipality under Southwest Finland region on Friday.

Police and rescue department people rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

In another accident, an elderly person was killed in a fire at an apartment of a residential building at Väisäläntie in Turku late Thursday night.

The deceased was a 70-year-old man living alone in the apartment.

Originated from kitchen, the fire broke out at about 10:30 pm and engulfed the second floor of the seven-storey building immediately.

Rescue service personnel rushed to the spot responding to a call and brought the fire under control.

The fire-fighters recovered the body from the spot.

The police, however, did not divulge any more detail in this regard.
