President Sauli Niinistö will participate in a virtual NATO summit on Friday, said the Office of the President in a press release on Thursday afternoon.
The summit will discuss Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
In addition to NATO member countries, the summit will be attended by NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partners (EOP) Finland and Sweden as well as the EU.
Meanwhile, Niinistö held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday, said the President in a twitter post.
“A good conversation with SG@jensstoltenberg ahead of tomorrow's virtual NATO Summit, where Finland, Sweden and the EU also participate,” Niinistö wrote in his twitter.
Finland and Sweden are now partners of NATO, not members of the military alliance.
