Finland summons Russia´s envoy for action in Ukraine

Finland on Wednesday formally condemned the Russia´s recognition of the separatist regions in Eastern Ukraine.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs summoned the Ambassador of Russia and expressed condemnation of Russia’s unilateral acts that violate Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and constitute a serious breach of international law and the Minsk Agreements, said the ministry in a twitter post in the evening.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed two decrees recognizing "the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR)" and "the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR)" as independent and sovereign states.

Earlier, on Monday night Finland strongly condemned the Russia´s action in Eastern Ukraine.

On Tuesday, President Sauli Niinistö said that Russia´s recognition of the separatist regions in Eastern Ukraine is a serious breach of the Minsk agreements and Finland strongly supports the Ukraine and its citizens.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Tuesday also commended Russia´s action and urged Russia to withdraw its recognition of Ukraine separatist regions and these regions and pull its troops out of Ukraine.
