The Southwest Finland District Court on Friday convicted a leader of Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) of inciting ethnic agitations and ordered him to pay a 60-day fine, about 1200 euros, local media reported.

The court awarded the punishment to Jyrki Åland, a deputy councilor of Turku City as the allegations of two charges brought against him were proved beyond doubt.

Åland, also a former Chair of Turku unit of Perussuomalaiset published two separate videos in Facebook and YouTube in 2019 and 2021 respectively against the immigrants.

In one video he issued violent threats against immigrant-background taxi drivers and in another video he wished that immigrants living at Varissuo area in Turku would die.

The video posted in YouTube, however, was removed later.

The court also ordered the convict to remove the rest video from Facebook.
