1 killed in road mishap in Hollola

An elderly man was killed in a road accident at Hollola in Päijät-Häme region on Thursday morning.

Police said that the accident took place at about 10:00 am when a private car skidded off the road and collided with a roadside tree at Salpakangas area.

Driver of the car, an elderly man, died on the spot in the accident.

Responding to a call police and rescue department people rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The identity of the deceased could not be known, and police did not divulge detail about the victim and the accident.

The police did not suspect any criminal link at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

The Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.
