The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health made a proposal to re-introduce remote learning at the schools during the spring against the backdrop of worsening coronavirus situation in the country, reported national broadcaster Yle, quoting a top ministry official on Thursday.

Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Kirsi Varhila told Yle that the remote learning should be introduced immediately after ongoing the Christmas holidays.

Classes at most of the schools in the country is scheduled to resume on 10 January after the holidays.

The issue, however, will be decided by a coronavirus ministerial working group, said the report, quoting Varhila.

According to the Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services and chair of the coronavirus working group Krista Kiuru, ministers may meet on Friday to discuss the proposal, the Yle report added.
