3 held for creating violence at Sörnäinen metro station

Police arrested three people, one of them equipped with firearm on charge of creating violence at the Sörnäinen metro station in Helsinki on Saturday afternoon.

A group of three men entered into the station at about 4:20 pm and threatened the ticket inspectors and law enforcers at the subway area in the station, said police.

Responding to a call police rushed to the spot and found group to threaten the officials. At certain stage one of the group members was trying to fire gunshot at one of the law enforcers at the station.

The police took the gun away from him and brought the situation under control resulting no gunshot was fired.

One member of the law enforcing agency, however, was slight injured at that time.

“The man carrying the gun was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a firearms offense. The rest two were arrested for their involvement in crime and disruption,” said a top official of Helsinki Police Juha Haapalainen.
