Ohisalo couple becomes parents of baby girl

Vihreä liitto (Finnish Green League) Chair Maria Ohisalo and her spouse Miika Johansson have become the parents of their first baby girl on New Year Eve.

“A new person has arrived. She came in the world on New Year´s Eve and we have celebrated the New Year together,” Ohisalo, also a minister of the five-party alliance government wrote in her twitter post in Finnish on Sunday afternoon.

"We are overwhelmed and incredibly happy and we are all doing well," she added.

The minister also thanked the staff of the Women's Hospital in Helsinki.

Ohisalo served as the Interior Minister of the country until start of her maternity leave in November.

She will resume her office as the Minister of the Environment at the end of her leave.
