Mikkonen, Kari made Interior, Environment ministers as Ohisalo goes on maternity leave

The Vihreä liitto (Green League), one of the components of the five-party alliance government brought changes to its ministerial positions on Friday as party Chairperson Maria Ohisalo, also Minister of Interior went on maternity leave.

The President appointed Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Krista Mikkonen as Minister of the Interior and appointed lawmaker Emma Kari as the new Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, said a government press release.

The President also released Ohisalo from her duties as Minister of the Interior and her membership in the Government.

Following the presidential session, the government plenary session made decisions on changes to the ministerial portfolios, deputising arrangements and the composition of ministerial committees and working groups.

Kari also gave her declaration of office and judicial affirmation at the beginning of the session, the press release added.

Party lawmaker Iiris Suomela will take over the charge of party's interim chair during the leave of Ohisalo.
