Demo in Helsinki against attacks on religious minority in Bangladesh

A group of Bangladeshi expatriates living in Finland on Thursday staged a demonstration in Helsinki protesting against the attacks on Hindu Community, a religious minority in Bangladesh during the past few days.

The demonstrators under the banner of “Finland Hindu Community” gathered in front of the parliament building in the morning at about 8:00 o’clock and protested the attacks on Hindu community during the celebrations of their biggest religious festival Durga Puja.

The protesters drew the attention of international communities and also urged the Bangladesh authority to take stern measures to stop the attacks.

They also demanded exemplary punishment to the criminals responsible for the attacks.

Bangladesh has seen a series of anti-Hindu attacks at Hindu temples in several districts.

At least six people including two Hindu men were killed during attacks in different districts. Dozens of homes of Hindu community were burned in northern district Rangpur.
