Youth held for stabbing 1 in Hämeenlinna

Police arrested one youth on charge of attempted murder for stabbing another youth in Hämeenlinna early Monday night.

The incident took place at about 2:30 am when a group of young people gathered at the intersection of Palokunnankatu and Saaristenkatu at the Hämeenlinna city centre and two of them engaged in an altercation with each other.

At certain stage of the altercation, one youth attacked the another one with sharp knife and injured him critically.

Police rushed to the spot after the incident and arrested the suspected attacker on charge of attempted murder.

The police, however, did not disclose the identities of the attacker and the victim and did not tell the reason behind the altercation.

Members of the law enforcing agency are investigating into the incident. As there were number of eyewitness, the police urged people to provide information, including photos and videos of the attack.
