Another batch of 77 Afghan people, who were in Finnish evacuation list but remained standing there finally arrived in Finland in cooperation with the US and Kuwaiti authorities, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a twitter post late Thursday night.
The evacuees are the employees of the company responsible for the security of Finnish Embassy personnel and their families.
“77 persons responsible for security of Finnish Embassy in Kabul and their families have safely landed in Finland. Close cooperation between the US, Kuwaiti and Finnish authorities has been key during this evacuation,” wrote the Foreign Ministry in the twitter post.
Earlier, in late August, 83 embassy security personnel and their families arrived in Finland in cooperation with the US troops.
Finland’s relief efforts in Afghanistan ended on 26 August when the Finnish Foreign Ministry´s aid team along with the Finnish troops left for Finland following the deteriorating law and order situation at the Kabul airport.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will continue to provide assistance to Finnish citizens and permanent residents of Finland in Afghanistan to the extent possible.
